Jennifer Lopez, 'Spider-Man'

LOS ANGELES — Sunday at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, Jennifer Lopez delivered an impassioned speech

about how both believers and doubters contributed to her success. Lopez was accepting an award for career achievement.

said Lopez, who won this year's Generation Award for actors whose varied contributions have made them household names.

 She also won the award for best song, a new category, for "On My Way" from the soundtrack to "Marry Me."

MTV's youth-oriented film and television awards ceremony featured 26 gender-neutral categories, including greatest villain, best kiss, and the new category 

After several years of being prerecorded, the ceremony reverted to a live version, hosted by Vanessa Hudgens.

At the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, Lopez shed tears as she thanked her fans, her manager, and children for "teaching me to love," bringing the audience to its feet.

Lopez's initial breakthrough came as a dancer on the sketch comedy series "In Living Color" in the 1990s.

In 1997, she pursued an acting career and earned the lead part in "Selena." She then appeared in "Anaconda," "Out of Sight," "The Wedding Planner," "Hustlers," and her most recent picture, "Marry Me."

And in 2020, Lopez appeared alongside Shakira during the Super Bowl halftime show.
