Early risers are often thought of as energetic problem-solvers leading businesses, organizations, or sometimes even nations. Ever wondered how a morning person can get so much done in only 24 hours? Waking up early gives you a head start on your day.
Night owls may disagree. They may argue that it’s possible to get extra work done at the end of the day. While this may be true for some, the vast majority of us are conditioned to be most productive during the early hours of the day.
The Science Behind Morning Wakefulness and Nighttime Sleepiness.
Our bodies are designed to produce the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin after dark. The sleep-wake cycle in our body is regulated by our circadian rhythms, our body’s internal clock, which works with the light and darkness around us. When our retina perceives light, it signals the Suprachiasmatic Nucleus (our body’s biological master clock) to suppress melatonin production, causing wakefulness. We are naturally attuned to being more responsive and alert during morning hours and sluggish and sleepy at night.
So, here are the three reasons to consider if you seek to knock out the day, in the early morning.
#1.’You can exercise and forget about it’, Brandy Bauer said in her post.
During the day, when it’s everyone around running through their day, you don’t find much motivation to exercise and think about your health.
“Sometimes the oddest thing happens on days I do an early morning run- it’ll be mid-afternoon and I’ll think about going to the gym and suddenly realize that I’ve already logged multiple miles. And then I do a little happy dance at the time given back to me”, said Brandy Bauer.
#2.Beat Peak Traffic Commute.
If you wake up early, you can leave your home early, beating peak traffic hours. You don’t waste time being stuck in traffic while commuting to work or dropping the kids off. You’ll also be on time for all your other appointments throughout the day.
#3. Self-inhalation. (This one’s my personal favorite.)
The purpose that you’ve been running for all day long must be under the look. You must know where you’re heading with all this in your mind, this helps your soul.
Waking up early and watching the Sunrise will eventually help you grow your mental will and annihilate ill vibes.
When having so much on the table we often forget the theme behind all of this, our purpose in life. Whether it is you finding your purpose in life or working on it, it is significantly obvious for you to be present with yourself at every moment of your life. Before the Sun touches the horizon, you can have self-affirmations and can talk to yourself about what you’ve been hiding from yourself, this long.
It’ll be another blog post, where I’ll be guiding you on how to change your mindset aka paradigm shift, and the benefits of affirmations.
What happens if you don’t wake up early?
If you don’t wake up early, you don’t get to enjoy your precious me-time. This can lead to grabbing an unhealthy breakfast on the go or even arriving to work late, ultimately causing a chaotic beginning to the day. Constantly waking up late and rushing can have long-term disadvantages such as depression, obesity, and stress.
To keep all these cons at bay, it’s best to wake up early and dedicate some time to yourself for your own benefit. When you develop the good habit of waking up early, you also end up going to bed early, preventing yourself from wasting time on devices at bedtime.
