The capabilities of VR have changed a lot over the years. Since VR headsets aren’t as expensive when they first launched, some models are actually affordable to the public. More people buying headsets means more games we can see released in the future.
When you think of VR games the first thought that might come to mind is single-player. While there are a plethora of single-player games, there’s also a vast majority of Multiplayer VR games too. No idea where to look? No worries as this list will walk you through some of the best multiplayer games that VR has to offer.
10/10 Star Trek: Bridge Crew
Star Trek: Bridge Crew is a one-of-a-kind experience as it has you controlling a part of the Starfleet with other online crew members. The title is heavily based on teamwork and communication so if you love strategizing and working well with others then this game is just for you. While it is based on Star Trek, you need no prior knowledge of the series to enjoy everything that it has to offer.
The game is cross-play with other Oculus, Steam, and other headsets, so you don’t have to worry about being left out. Grab your friends or make new ones as you enjoy this intergalactic experience.
9/10 Real VR Fishing
Real VR Fishing is exactly what the title says it is. You fish, but in VR. Whether you actually know how to fish or you haven’t the slightest idea, Real VR Fishing can be a calming experience. The game teaches you everything you need to know, and it’s fairly easy to learn. Once you have all the basics, the only thing left to do is enjoy the open water.
The calming atmosphere, the sounds of the water, and fishing with some friends are relaxing. That same feeling you’d get going fishing with a group in real life you can get in your very home.
8/10 Beat Saber
Beat Saber is a game that’s perfect for first-time VR users. Not only can it prove to be one of the best rhythm games on VR, but it’s also known to be a good workout as well. With that in mind who wouldn’t want to build up a sweat with a friend?
Beat Saber multiplayer allows you to go head-to-head with an opponent online as you both try to get the best score in a song. You can have your own little virtual dance party. What’s even better about multiplayer is that it’s possible to play with mods online as well.
7/10 Zenith: The Last City
Zenith: The Last City is what you would get if you were to be randomly teleported into a fantasy world. It’s an immersive experience that has you fighting various monsters, collecting gear, and completing quests. The scenery is beautiful and full of colors and changes based on location. However, the multiplayer aspect is what makes the game wonderful.
There will never be a moment when you don’t run into another player. You can socialize with each other, complete quests together, or have idle conversations during fights. It almost feels surreal and can make you forget that you’re playing a game.
6/10 Payday 2
Payday 2 was already a hit title back when it launched in 2013, however with it having VR capabilities, it unlocked a whole new experience for fans and new players alike. Robbing banks have never been more thrilling as it creates an immersive experience around you and has you plan heists and stealthy complete your missions. Or you could go in guns blazing. That could work too.
If you own the base game the VR DLC is free to download. If you have three friends with Payday 2 VR headsets will be an exciting experience. Steal from the rich and give to the… well, you.
5/10 REC Room
REC Room is a game that’s all about socializing with other people and making new friends. There’s a lot to do as the game has a bunch of community-made worlds and games at your disposal. Not only that but there are a lot of customization options that you can purchase and earn to stand out from everyone.
Grabbing some friends to play with you can allow you to open up and be more relaxed around people you don’t know. At the end of the day, they might even be added to your friend group if everything clicks with them. Give it a shot and see what happens.
4/10 arizona sunshine
Arizona Sunshine is one of the most immersive multiplayer zombie experiences that VR has to offer. You and 3 other people can team up and go against massive waves of zombies and see how long you can stay alive. There are a variety of weapons in the game so whatever you choose to dish out punishment to the undead is up to you.
If you play with the right people it’ll be nonstop shouting adrenalin-filled fun as some moments can go from 0 to 100 real quick. You should give it a shot if you’re into horror games and want an immersive experience.
Speaking of horror games, Phasmophobia is a VR game that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Not only are you playing to survive, but you’re also tasked with investigating different locations to figure out the different paranormal activities taking place. It’s ghost hunting purpose in VR.
That being said it’s recommended to play with a group as Phasmophobia is filled with jump scares loud sounds and fun anxiety-filled moments. Even though they might not be physical with you, having a friend or two in your party makes things a lot more fun. You can all live out the experience of being expert ghost hunters together, especially after Phasmophobia’s VR Overhaul update.
2/10 VR Chat
VR Chat is similar to REC Room as they are both social games where people can go to chill and hang out. However, VR Chat is more extensive and has better capabilities. In VR Chat, the worlds that you can go to are virtually endless and some are more detailed than others. The amount of avatars is also endless as more are being made by the community daily, so there’s bound to be something that fits your style.
Meeting people online can be nerve-racking, but you don’t have to worry as the game has safety settings you can change freely. With friends, VR Chat is amazing and everyone should try it out.
1/10 Pavlov VR
Pavlov VR is one of the best games to ever touch VR. It feels like it’s based on Counter-Strike and Call of Duty at the same time. It’s an immersive FPS experience with a variety of game modes and maps to play on. There are plenty of guns in the game, and they all feel real as the game has realistic gun handling aspects.
The modding community is also in-depth, so you’ll never get bored with it. With friends, Pavlov VR is a competitive and enjoyable experience. It’s intense and exciting at the same time. If you haven’t played it already, you should as soon as possible.
